If we are allowed to euthanize our pet that is in pain or is suffering, shuold we not be allowed to do that very same thing to a loved one such as a sister, a brother, or any other relative?

Absolutely I have advocated euthanasia for years and the sooner it becomes legal in britain the better.

Personally, I wish it was legal all over. We've had a case or two here in the States, and to be honest about it, I was in agreement with it, but our glorious court system wasn't. Go figure!

I know we discussed that case at length here...I have watched 2 people very close to me, die, from terrible diseases and they both asked me to help end their suffering. There was nothing we could legally do to honour their wishes..I think the problem lies very much with the 1 sided pro-life lobby..they fear mass euthanasia of severly disabled people..which is a ridiculous and much over used argument...

Well, of course the problem is that we cannot, from outside the person's own experience, assess in how much pain and suffering they might be, and how they would still rate the value of their own life. That is the problem, is it not?

I don't agree the Doctors were able to asses my friend's suffering and did everything short of euthanasia to relieve it.

I'm sure that can be estimated, especially with today's technology, and depending on the severity of the case.

I agree there are many ways to measure suffering and quality of life...
